Baby Lila's arrival

Welcome Lila Arlene

Lila was just born, weighing in at 7 lbs 10 oz, 19.5 inches. Mom, Dad, and baby are doing great!!

It's time!

Jill is fully dilated and has just started pushing! We should have a baby girl very soon. Stay tuned!

Birthday!!

Jerod and I came in to the hospital last night around 11:45. My contractions started getting very intense and about 3 minutes apart, so I made Jerod get to the hospital as quickly as possible! Luckily most of the traffic lights were in our favor.

By the time I got checked in I was 3 cm dilated and 90% effaced so they immediately got me into a birthing room. I spent time in the jacuzzi and tried to breathe through the contractions for about 3 hours and got to 5 cm dilated, but decided it was time for the epidural. I got it at 3 am and have been trying to sleep ever since. But I'm too excited to sleep! :)

We'll be delivering sometime this morning, so stay tuned for pictures of our little angel!

Hi everyone, it's Jill! Thanks to Erin for keeping this updated for us. We are still at home and the contractions aren't as regular as they were earlier today. We are going to get some rest and enjoy time at home. Hopefully things will begin progressing again soon!

Stay tuned...

Some excitement

This morning Jill's contractions seemed to be coming at a pretty regular pace and there were some other signs that things may be progressing. She called her doctor and headed to the hospital. As you might imagine the anticipation is unnerving...and I am not even the one having the baby!!

This trip to the hospital turned out to be a false alarm...for now at least. They have sent Jill home as there hasn't been much progress with dilation. She is reporting that she is having contractions every 5 minutes and they are getting stronger. Looks like they may be making a second trip to the hospital by tonight!!

Good luck Jill and Jerod!!

Anytime now!!

Hi everyone,
This is Erin. I will be updating the baby Verboort blog when the big day comes...which is just around the corner according to Jill's doctor appointment this morning!!

Jill's progression is still at 2 cm dilated but she is now 70% effaced. The head is also very engaged. The doctor said she would be very surprised if Jill makes it to her next appointment next Tuesday.

The good news is that Jill's schedule is free this next week so the baby's arrival would be wonderfully timed.

Keep up the bouncy ball Jill. Hurry up baby girl. We all want to meet you!!

Animal Cruelty

We decided to test out the carseat tonight...

And it works!! :) Poor kitty...

38 weeks!! Only 2 more to go (HOPEFULLY!!)

Today marks the beginning of our 38th week. It's amazing how fast 8 months went by, and how slow time seems to be going now that we are so close. We are just so excited to meet this little girl! Today Jerod and I got up early and went to Maggie's Bun's for breakfast. We are reading the labor and delivery parts of our books and preparing for labor. I'm sure that we won't remember a thing that we read when it comes time, but it is still fun to prepare together. We decided to drive out to the beach and take our current daughter (Brandy) for a day trip. The weather was supposed to be super nice at the beach, and we brought along a blanket to lay on the beach and continue our reading. The weather was a little bit overcast, but was still pretty warm. Brandy swam and played chase with her ball. She had a blast! We ran into Sam, Candy & Makenna Marshall and got to watch 2-yr old Makenna play in the water. It made us even more excited to have our little one here!

After laying on the beach for awhile we went up to have some lunch and visit Flamingo Jim's (we must visit Flamingo Jim's every time we are in Rockaway!). We took a bumpy back road on the way home to see if we could induce labor, but she seems pretty happy in there, so we'll just have to wait!

Now we're home in Forest Grove and getting ready to watch the Beavers play UNLV. What a great day!!

All our bags are packed!!

Still 3 more weeks 'til our due date, but our bags are packed and we're ready to go...just in case!!

I'm trying out this post using my blackberry because the hospital we are going to doesn't have wireless. So I'm hoping to be able to send updates (or rather have a friend send them) from my phone. Hopefully this works!!

More 3D pics

Here are some more 3D pictures of our little angel! She appears to be a thumb sucker, or at least she likes having her hands up around her face, especially her nose and mouth. It was really neat to see her opening her eyes and mouth.

Only 2 more months to go! It's hard to believe that she will be here so soon. Jerod and I are starting to work on the nursery now. We are painting and adding a chair rail to the room. I'll post some pictures soon!

This is a good picture of her eyes/nose, but she has her mouth covered up:

Here is another one of her hand in front of her face...look at those long fingers!!

In this one she is yawning! You can see her mouth is wide open:

Here is one of her where she doesn't have her hand or anything in front of her mouth. She looks so peaceful and content!

Baby V in 3D!

Here is Baby Girl Verboort! This is a profile picture at 28 weeks:

These are the 3D pictures. She had her feet and hands in front of her face a lot, and really didn't want to give us a good look at her face!
Here's another one with her hand in front of her face, but you can see her eyes and nose:

In this one she gave us a smile!

Another one of her little face...she's already beautiful! :)

Stubborn little girl

We went into Fetal Fotos for our 3D ultrasound tonight, and our lovely daughter was not in the mood to have her picture taken. She had her feet up against her forehead and she was holding her umbilical cord in front of her face most of the time, so we didn't get any 3D shots. We go back next Friday to try again.

Even though she was hiding, she was moving around a lot! She is a little wiggle worm. She even kicked so hard once that the doctor said she's never felt a kick that hard before! She's a feisty one!

We do have a confirmation that she is a girl! She even has hair, so that must be from Jerod because I was a baldy when I was born. The doctor also said that she has really long fingers and toes, which both Jerod and I also have. She was sucking her thumb for a bit, but for the most part she was playing with her feet and her umbilical cord.

We are hoping to have pictures and a video of our little munchkin after next Friday's appointment!

Latest update on cravings...I can't get enough ice. I love chewing on ice chips! I even drove through Sonic the other day just to get a large cup of ice (they charged me 10 cents!).

25 weeks down...15 to go!

I had my 25 week appointment today and everything is looking great. I have to admit that it was pretty tough to hear that the baby now weighs 1.5 pounds...and I've gained 18. Yikes!

We are getting the 4D ultrasound taken at the end of this month, and we're so excited to see her again! My friend Morgan let me borrow a fetal sounds monitor, so we've been able to listen to her moving around and can even find the heartbeat if we are patient and listen carefully.

We've decided on a name, but we're keeping it top secret! Something has to be a surprise for all of you, right? :)

Most recent cravings: PINEAPPLE!! I've gotten over chicken nuggets and peanut butter (not together), and luckily moved onto healthier things.

I see the doctor again in 4 weeks, and then I start seeing her every 2 weeks until September when I'll start seeing her every week. We start our childbirth prep classes in August and I've signed up for prenatal yoga classes as well. I've been doing my yoga/pilates dvd's at home, but decided it would be more fun to have some pregnant companions to work out with.

Our next update will be in a few weeks when I post the 4D pictures. We'll be about 27 weeks when we get them taken, which is when the ultrasound tech said is perfect because they have a lot of distinct features, but they aren't all "squished" looking yet. :)

The nursery!

Here is a picture of our nursery set. It is the Kimberly Grant "Farm Yard" and looks so cute in our dark cherry sleigh crib that Jerod put together recently. He was so proud of himself that it only took an hour to assemble. :)
When I found out we are having a girl I knew that I didn't want a "girly" nursery. I fell in love with the little farm animals and the theme "Dream, Dance, Laugh" that is on the wall art and quilt.

Here she is! Going clockwise from top left:

In the first picture she is yawning...apparently we were boring her. :)
In the next one she is facing the camera...looking a little Skeletor-ish.
The middle two are profile pictures.
The bottom left is a picture of her bum and right leg.
The bottom right is her arm and hand.

The ultrasound tech was laughing at how much she was wiggling around. She kept doing flips and kicking me. She was moving around so much that the tech had a hard time getting pictures she needed, so I might have to go back for another ultrasound. Darn! :)

Jerod and I are so excited! We are half-way to our due date already...only 20 weeks to go!

It's a........

GIRL!! She is happy and healthy and moving around like crazy. She doesn't like her confined space and is stretching out her legs and pushing with her arms a lot. I'm starting to feel her more and more these days, and it is the best feeling in the world!

I'll post pictures soon...she is absolutely beautiful already!

Peanut Butter!

Everyone go buy stock in peanut butter...baby Verboort has been having some serious p.b. & honey sandwich cravings lately. In fact he/she had one last night at midnight. :)

We find out the gender of our little one tomorrow. Hopefully he/she isn't shy and hiding the parts we want to see. I have a feeling that won't be the case though...with parents like Jerod and myself there is no way it will be shy! :)

George

I went down to Yuma, AZ to visit my parents and grandparents for a few days in the end of January. They didn't know it yet, but I was going down to tell them that I was carrying their first grandchild (my grandparent's 7th great-grandchild!). I told my parents by giving them a card that read "Dear Grandma and Grandpa, I'm so excited to meet you. I love you already. Love, your 1st grandchild". My dad got a little confused and thought I'd given them the wrong card after reading "Dear Grandma and Grandpa" but my mom got it right away.

Next I told my Gma and Gpa that I was carrying their great-grandchild. My Grandpa Marlin immediately named it "George", and s(he) has been called George by my family ever since!

First comes love, then comes marriage, then....

Welcome to the blog for Baby Verboort! Jerod and I are excited to announce that we will be welcoming a new member to our family in late September. We had an ultrasound today and he/she looks healthy and is moving around a lot. (S)he even waved at the camera to say hello to mom and dad!

I'm feeling really good so far. I made it through the 1st trimester without any major sickness. Now that the 2nd trimester has arrived I am definitely feeling a lot more energy...which is good timing for my office opening on April 1st.

I haven't had any funny cravings...except for chicken nuggets and cheese. Not together. So the baby is getting plenty of protein and calcium!

We are going to find out sex, but not until 20 weeks, so we have about 6 weeks left until we find out. I'm too much of a planner to be "surprised". We figure that we'll still be surprised to see what (s)he looks like! As you can see from the profile picture this is already a beautiful child (not biased or anything!). :)
We've been talking about names a little bit, but we'll put that on hold until we find out what we are having.
I'll keep posting pictures as we get them. I would post some of me, but I don't look much different. The baby bump is pretty small...but I'm working on that one chicken nugget at a time!
